International audienceThe aim of this article is to understand the relationship between the volunteer and his organization thanks to the theory of gift/counter gift. This approach have three phases: the gift, counter gift and surrender. It seems particularly appropriate to study the link between the volunteer and his association. The gift appears to be a determinant of the action voluntary. If the expectations of volunteers are not met, they have the opportunity to participate in another associative action.
