Triphenyl phosphate (TPhP) has been shown to cause developmental neurotoxicty. Considering the visual system is a sensitive target, in the present study, we investigated the potential toxicity of TPhP on the visual development and function in zebrafish larvae. Embryos were exposed to 0, 0.1, 1, 10, and 30 mu g/L TPhP from 2 to 144 h post-fertilization (hpf). The transcription of photoreceptor opsin genes, and histopathological changes in the retina and visual behavior (optokinetic and phototactic responses) were evaluated.
