Effect of Different Surface Pre-Treatments and Adhesives on Bond Strength between Resin Cements and Polyetheretherketone: Systemic Review.

Relevance of the problem and aim of the work: teeth loss is a common problem in world, which can be solved using dental prosthetics. In order to maintain natural looking smile, esthetic appearance and restore functions of stomatognathic system new materials are being developed which has to have properties such as biocompatibility, chemical stability, good esthetics, resistance to chewing forces, suitable elastic module, longevity and low affinity for dental plaque. Polyether ether ketone is material, which has such properties and it’s used in modern dentistry. The aim of this work is to sort out, analyze and evaluate results of in vitro publications about bond strength properties between PEEK and resin cements using different surface conditioning and adhesives. Material and the methods: literature search was performed in PubMed/Medline and Wiley Online Library electronic databases. The systematic literature analysis include full publications written in English language, published from 2009 to 2019, all in vitro studies, which analyzed bond strength properties between Polyether ether ketone and resin cements using different surface conditioning methods. Results: for this systemic literature review, a total number of 12 articles met the inclusion criteria, 9 of the articles were used for introduction. In selected in vivo studies, which evaluated effects of different surface pretreatments on bond strength between polyetheretherketone and resin cement the most effective pretreatment was surface etching with concentrated sulfuric acid. Acceptable results were obtained using air-abrasion and silica coating. The most effective adhesive was “visio.link”.
