Popularizar ou perecer: a potencialidade informacional dos arquivos na internet

Qualitative analysis of the epistemic relationship between archival diffusion and its possible interfaces with the processes of science popularization in the approach of the Information Science. As the science popularization refers to an activity with the purpose of making the scientific knowledge accessible and intelligible to a non-specialized or lay public, theories and practices of the Archival Science present the function of diffusion as a means for access to knowledge about the archives. Would there be a possible dialogue between both? As a methodological proposal, in a first phase, the bibliographical revision consolidated the theoretical axis of the investigation on the foundations of Information Science, of the science popularization and of the Archival Science. Then, an exploratory survey allowed the selection of diffusion actions practiced in the electronic portals of two archival institutions: the Public Archives of the State of São Paulo and the National Archives of Brazil. The verification of the empirical field occurred through interviews with the producers of the diffusion actions from selected archival institutions, being analyzed through content analysis. The research results may contribute to the strengthening of the interdisciplinary articulations between Archival Science and Information Science and science popularization, as well as stimulate the approach of the archival institutions with the society, leading to a more popular and democratic communication of the archives through the digital environment of the internet.Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e TecnológicoAnálise qualitativa da relação epistêmica entre a difusão arquivística e suas possíveis interfaces com os processos de divulgação científica na abordagem da Ciência da Informação. À medida que a divulgação científica diz respeito a uma atividade com fins de tornar o conhecimento científico acessível e inteligível a um público não especializado ou leigo, teorias e práticas da Arquivologia apresentam a função de difusão como meio para o acesso ao conhecimento sobre os arquivos. Haveria um diálogo possível entre ambas? Como proposta metodológica, em uma primeira fase, a revisão bibliográfica consolidou o eixo teórico da investigação sobre os alicerces da Ciência da Informação, da divulgação científica e da Arquivologia. Em seguida, um levantamento exploratório permitiu a seleção de ações de difusão praticadas nos portais eletrônicos de duas instituições arquivísticas: o Arquivo Público do Estado de São Paulo e o Arquivo Nacional do Brasil. A verificação do campo empírico envolveu a realização de entrevistas com os produtores das ações de difusão de instituições arquivísticas selecionadas, sendo analisadas por meio da análise de conteúdo. Os resultados da pesquisa podem contribuir para o fortalecimento das articulações interdisciplinares da Arquivologia com a Ciência da Informação e a divulgação científica, bem como estimular a aproximação das instituições arquivísticas com a sociedade, com vistas a uma comunicação mais popular e democrática dos arquivos através do ambiente digital da internet
