The article focuses on the changes of the art world in the context of democratisation of culture. Democratisation is connected with the development of popular culture, and the increase in social participation. There are different aspect of art taken into consideration in the article: artists, arts recipients, museums, artworks. In the centre of the reflection, the museum is placed, as an institution which takes part in the process of communication between the artist and arts recipients.
