The peri-urban areas are currently considered as key places for the regeneration of the contemporary cities. These areas are characterized by urban and agricoltural land uses that are related with high natural, historical and cultural values. This complex heterogeneity can provide new landscape views which could be considered to think new ways to live public space. Based on available literature, different definitions and concepts of periurban have been proposed during the time highlighting its complex structure.
