In situ grazing rates on dissolved organic carbon, detrital particulate organic carbon, procaryotes, pico- and nanoeucaryotes, phytoplankton and ciliates were examined through a year cycle. The natural diet of the species included detrital organic matter, heterotrophic bacteria, Prochlorococcus sp., Synechococcus sp.
