The soil represents living and dynamic environment for different types of microorganisms. With their enzyme activity microorganisms participate in the creation of plant nutrients. Thus, microorganisms participate in the creation and maintenance of soil fertility and are considered as biogenic indicators. In this paper, the total number of microorganisms, actinomyces, diazotrophs, fungi and cellulolytic, denitrifying, ammonifying and nitrifying microorganisms was examined in alluvial soil in Jurumleri locality, Skopje. The number of microorganisms was studied at three different depths (0-10 cm, 10-20 cm and 20-30 cm).
