This chapter starts by defining the term 'health improvement' and describes policies that underpin the assertion that health disciplines are ideally placed to promote health improvement. Health education, promotion, and improvement are firmly established within the curriculum; this statement is challenged. Finally, suggestions are provided as to how the education/practice gap can be bridged.
