ELAN is a multimedia annotation tool that is being developed by the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics. It is applied in a variety of research areas within the humanities and beyond; it can be useful in any type of research that includes audio and/or video recordings and analyzes these qualitatively or quantitatively (or both). This poster provides a general introduction to its main functionalities, with an emphasis on the latest developments. Most of these new developments have been executed within CLARIN projects in the Netherlands and in Germany
