The class Ostracoda comprises one of the most diverse taxonomic groups within the subphylum Crustacea. Because of their unique community structure, species diversity and richness, ostracods can be used as indicator species of changes in aquatic conditions. In this study the phylogenetic relationships of 16 individual ostracods were investigated. Mitochondrial CO-I genes of eight species, belonging to six genera, collected from surface and cave environments were analyzed.
