The eSciDoc infrastructure is built as a service-oriented (SOA) platform that uses Fedora Commons Repository Software to store and administer the content. The Max Planck Digital Library (MPDL) further developed services and solutions which enrich the overall landscape of the eSciDoc infrastructure. The infrastructure provides two groups of services: core and additional services. Core services are responsible for the management and retrieval of digital resources, they additionally implement mechanisms to authenticate and authorize users against XACML-based policies. Additional services implement more specific functionalities such as the management of Named Entities (controlled vocabularies), SWORD depositing, fine-grained validation of data ...
