This article offers an insight into the practice of publishing social science research data. It describes the step of data curation as an essential component to make research data sustainably available. Based on the experiences of institutional research datamanagement at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center, particular problem areas andpractical solutions that arise during the curation process are presented. This shows that data curation is a complex process in which both subject-specific and (work)organisational challenges arise.
