This paper focuses on the technological barriers mobile knowledge workers contend with in their professional activities. In conducting an exploratory study of a small group, themes emerged regarding their technological barriers that eroded their capacity for mobility, which included interacting with associates remotely, incorporating mobile technologies into the suite of professional tools, and building a portfolio of applications and services that prioritized their efficiency. My analysis is developed from concepts in Ubiquitous Computing and sociotechnical theory.
