Cardiovascular disease (CVD) and its risk factors are increasing at an alarming rate among the adult Navajo population, who are also suffering from the rising challenge of food insecurity. Changes over the past few decades in the food environment of Navajo population, and their increasing consumption of unhealthy foods and beverages link to the prevalence of CVDs. It is of urgent public health concern to address the burden of CVDs among the Navajo population, as inaction can lead to worsening morbidity, mortality and healthcare costs in decades to come.
