It is estimated that forty five million Americans lack health insurance (DeNavas-Walt, Bernadette Mills, 2003). There are more than 40 million Latinos living in the United States (US Census, 2004). As part of this problem, most of the Latinos living in the United States lack health insurance as well (Institute of Medicine, 200 I).
