Intimate partner violence (IPV) threatens the health of women around the world. The 2013-2014 Zambia Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) indicates that 47 percent of ever-married women age 15-49 have experienced some form of violence perpetrated by their husband or partner. A number of factors are associated with higher odds of violence, including expression of approving attitudes towards wife-beating, which is also linked to lower levels of education. Women with higher than secondary education are more likely to report abuse to professionals.
