This work examined bromate formation in a bench-scale continuous-flow ozonation system by varying water quality parameters such as bromide ion concentration, pH, total organic carbon (TOC) concentration, and total inorganic carbon (TIC) concentration. Experiments were performed at several different ozone doses. Bromate concentrations were analyzed using the direct injection IC method and the pre-concentration technique. Bromate was quantified at concentrations as low as 1 μg/l. Additionally, an attempt was made to distinguish whether bromate formation is controlled by mass transfer rates or by relative reaction rates.Master of Science in Environmental Engineerin
