The validation for a low-cost, real-time probe was made in order to detect particle breakthrough of industrial particle collectors. Tests were performed in terms of the probe stabiUty, sensitivity, and applicability as a detector. The result showed that sensitivity to varying particle concentration had statistically significant relation to a widely used aerosol photometer in the range from 0.1 to 20 mg/m[3]. In addition, reasonable stability for the probe could be observed for 20 minutes continuous measurement.
