First, this paper will describe the extent and significance of the various types of malnutrition in children under 5 in the DR, including underweight, overweight, and specific micronutrient deficiencies. Then, using the “Framework for actions to achieve optimal fetal and child nutrition and development” from the 2013 Lancet Series on Maternal and Child Health as a guide, it will also attempt to describe the determinants of malnutrition for this population (Black et al., 2013). The discussion will conclude with an assessment of interventions related to optimal child nutrition and development in the DR, followed by an analysis of ensuing implications for policy.Master of Public Healt
