Aim: To investigate the empirical evidence to support the use of early extubation protocols for the implementation of fast track care in cardiac surgical patients.Background: Early extubation has continued to serve as a common goal for post-surgical patients over the past several years, but limited resources outline or define the post-surgical process. Method: A review of the literature was conducting regarding implementing fast-track extubation protocols for cardiac-surgical patients.
