The objective of this study is to assess how both the severity of illness and the probability of side effects influences patient perceptions of medication risk and benefit as well as their decision to take the medication. The study hypotheses were as follows: (1) individuals will be most willing to take a medication when illness severity is high, and less willing to take a medication when illness severity is low, (2) individuals will be most willing to take a medication and will consider it safest when the probability of a side-effect is low, and (3) non-quantitative side effect information will be interpreted similarly to high side effect probability information.Doctor of Pharmac
