This article aims to deeping an underconsiderated aspect of Eckhart's thought, i.d. the pedagogical scope of his production in vernacular. In the first part, I will offer some remarks on 'philosophy in vernacular' and its importance for the history of medieval thought. In the Part II I will analyze the metaphor of the divine seed in Dante's Convivio, and then proceed in Part III to present the use that Eckhart makes of the same metaphor in the Liber Benedictus. This will allow us to trace in the Eckhart treatise a reference to an until now undetected (unnoticed) reference to Thomas Aquinas' theory on the function of the magister
