This study aims to investigate the relationship between Genesis 16:7-16, 22:1-19, 28:10-22 by a comparative analysis of the angel (or the angels) according to their presentation, function and character. The conclusion to be drawn is how there are marked differences but also prominent similarities between the different narratives. The stories can also be interpreted in the light of each other, upon which Genesis 28 can function as a key to understand the angel's potential for placement, both earthly and heavenly. It also appears that the angel concretises the word of God and/or the relationship to God. This is done by the angel's revelation by serving and executing the will of God.
