International audienceDespite some variation from region to region, demographic recovery is evident in rural areas. It is increasingly necessary to ensure the economic development of rural areas by creating and maintaining economic activities and employment. The terms ‘job creation’ and ‘business development’ are vague and their meanings rarely defined. Scientists who do use those terms tend to interpret them differently according to their own academic disciplines.
