The objective of this study was to investigate the associations between suppressor of cytokine signaling 1 (SOCS1) mRNA expression and SOCS1 polymorphisms with the development of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). One hundred and eighty-one patients with RA and 96 healthy controls were enrolled in this study. The SOCS1 mRNA level in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) was detected by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. SOCS1 polymorphisms were determined by the polymerase chain reaction/restriction fragment length polymorphism method.
