AbstractMeasurement of surface roughness requires the use of different mathematical algorithms, which can lead to different outputs from the same inputs. In order to avoid this discrepancy in results, international standards have established the concept of software measurement standard or softgauges, which aim at contrasting different results from a specific measurement information. This paper discusses and compares current implementations of such software measurement standards, analyzing and remarking the strengths and weaknesses they present.
