AbstractObjectiveTo determine the role of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) in assessing hemispheric language dominance in patients with epilepsy who are candidates for surgical treatment.Patients and methodsThis study was conducted on (14) consecutively enrolled epileptic patients (12 males, 2 females; mean age, 21years; range 16–58years) who were prospectively examined by the neurologist. Eleven (78.6%) patients were dominantly right handed, three (21.4%) were dominantly left handed.
