AbstractBackgroundThe Medtronic implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) and cardiac resynchronization therapy with defibrillator (CRT-D) device is equipped with the OptiVol fluid status monitoring system, which continuously measures intrathoracic impedance and provides an early warning of thoracic fluid retention, which is indicative of decompensated heart failure (HF).
