AbstractThe sideways heat equation is considered as a model ill-posed problem. The aim of this paper is to indicate a possibility of a new approach for solving this problem based on an application of wavelet basis decomposition of measured data. The Meyer wavelets are applied to formulate a regularized solution which is convergent to the exact one when a data error tends to zero
