An Investigation of the relationship between Iranian pre-university students’ background variables and their awareness towards AIDS disease

AbstractThe purpose of this research is to the relationship between Iranian pre-university students’ background variables and their awareness towards HIV, AIDS and to provide the preventive measures in this regard. The research was carried out in Toyserkan, a western city of Iran. The researcher has tried to compare and contrast the scientific achievements of different scholars in the field and to plan future programs and decision makings. The method of research being survey and sampling has been used for collecting data. All 295 pre-university students of Toyserkan city participated in this research. Among whom, 167 of students (chosen based on Morgan's table) were delivered the awareness and insight questionnaire. During the statistical methods, the researcher used some procedures like: population, the percent of population, mean, standard deviation, T-test, variance and pearson correlation coefficient and the toki test. It was found that the male students’ awareness towards AIDS was less than the females. The students studying experimental sciences had relatively more information about AIDS than the others. There was also found no meaningful relationship between the level of education of the students’ parents and their awareness towards AIDS
