In this paper, two sequential detection techniques are described. Most of the expressions are derived under the assumption that one of two antipodal equally probable signals corrupted by an additive, zero-mean symmetrically distributed noise is present at the input to the detector. Without too much difficulty the results can be generalized to include non-antipodal signals and asymmetric noise distributions. The proposed detection procedures preserve the desirable robust properties of nonparametric detection procedures while retaining the basic advantages of sequential procedures
