AbstractA close aerial combat with IR-missiles is the aim for this study. The problem is solved numerically with a modified differential dynamic programming method. A new ingredient in the solution technique has to be implemented into the algorithm. This emanates from the complex launch condition of the missiles. The paper emphasizes the game problem and the theoretical extension of the method. A simple case in the horizontal plane will be illustrated, which however is no limitation as a numerical method is used
