AbstractIntroductionAdnexal masses are a common clinical problem and considered as the leading indication for gynecological surgery. The ovary and adnexal structures are relatively difficult to image with any technology. Magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) can detect metabolic changes. As molecular changes often precede morphologic alterations, sensitivity is expected to improve by MRS. Diffusion weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DW-MRI) is sensitive to molecular diffusion which is due to random microscopic translational motion of molecules (known as Brownian motion).
