AbstractIt has been postulated that in cardiac tamponade, the hemodynamic effects of compression of the right heart chambers and great veins are more important than are the effects of left heart compression. In 10 anesthetized dogs with surgically compartmented pericardium, the hemodynamic effects of right atrial and right ventricular compression were compared with the hemodynamic effects of left atrial and left ventricular compression.
