Dipyridamole inhibits PDGF- and bFGF-induced vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation. Dipyridamole is the only pharmacologic agent demonstrated to reduce polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) graft occlusion in hemodialysis patients. However, the mechanism of action of dipyridamole in preventing graft occlusion is unknown.
