ObjectiveDiffusion- and perfusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging can identify ischemic brain injury in the hyperacute stage. For neuroprotection during thoracic aortic surgery, we developed a novel retrograde cerebral perfusion with intermittent pressure augmentation.
