AbstractThrough the application of self-determination theory, relations among autonomy support, need satisfaction, work motivation and job performance were investigated. Data were collected from employees in an industrial company in Iran. Results using structural equation modeling (SEM) showed that autonomy support predicted satisfaction of three psychological needs, which in turn predicted work motivation and job performance. In addition, need satisfaction partially mediated these relationships. Discussion and implications of the results are presented in the study
