The conflict between offshore petroleum activities and fishing as regulated in Norwegian and English law is discussed, considering the loss of access to fishing grounds and the problem of debris. The various lessons to be learned from the experience of Norway and the UK are indicated, listing also certain issues which need to be resolved and measures which may be taken
