AbstractThe titanium powder and graphite powder were used to produce TiC ingot by self-propagating high temperature synthesis, and then TiC ingot was broken and screening to obtain TiC particles as a hard phase of the coating. The TiC/Fe composite coating consisting of SHS titanium carbide and cast iron was prepared by Vacuum cladding process. The microstructure of the coating and TiC particles were investigated by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffractometer (XRD), Energy spectrum analysis system(EDS).
