2019-04-26RN turnover is steadily increasing across all nursing disciplines. The overall turnover rate for first-year RNs is presently around 29% and it continues to outpace overall department turnover. Of the different nursing specialties, emergency nursing has the highest overall turnover rate of 19.0% annually and continues to exceed the national average rate of 17.2%. This field-based evaluation study explored first-year turnover in hospital emergency departments and how the competencies of emergency nurse leaders can influence turnover.
