AbstractWe show that if a finitely presented Rees quotient of a free inverse semigroup has polynomial growth, then its growth series is in a certain subsemiring of N[[z]]. We present a procedure for calculating the degree of growth of such a semigroup and use it to determine the possible values for the degree of growth
