Cell-cell adhesion is an essential process during the development of multicellular organisms. It is based on various cellular junctions and ensures a tight contact between neighboring cells, enabling interactive exchanges necessary for morphological and functional differentiation and maintaining the homeostasis of healthy tissue organization.
