AbstractNowadays, still image and video systems are typically of limited use in poor visibility conditions such as in rain, fog, smoke, and at dawn. These situations severely limit the range and effectiveness of imaging systems because of the severe reduction in contrast. Retinex algorithm has been very popular area of research used to image enhancement. Basic idea of Retinex algorithm is to separate illumination from the reflectance in a given obtained image.
