AbstractIn this paper, a meta-heuristic optimization algorithm has been applied to interconnected Hydro-thermal power system for automatic generation control (AGC). The optimal gains of the fuzzy based proportional, integral and derivative (PID) controllers are obtained by employing the proposed Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO) algorithm. The generation rate constraint of 3% per minute for thermal power plant and 270% up and 360% down per minute for hydro plant have been considered.
