AbstractOBJECTIVESTo investigate the effects of ischemic preconditioning in hearts from adult and both sedentary and trained senescent rats.BACKGROUNDIschemic preconditioning does not prevent postischemic dysfunction in the aging heart, probably because of reduction of cardiac norepinephrine release.
