ABSTRACTBackgroundCD14 is an essential component of the receptor for lipopolysaccharide (LPS). LPS stimulates T-helper type 1 (Th1) cytokine expression, potentially suppressing Th2 immune responses involved in IgE-mediated allergic diseases.
