AbstractEpstein–Barr virus nuclear antigen 2 (EBNA2) is a transcriptional activator of viral and cellular genes involved in B cell transformation by EBV and is targeted to EBV responsive promoters through interaction with cellular DNA binding proteins such as RBP-Jκ. To develop a conditional system in which the function of EBNA2 can be switched on and off, we have fused the hormone binding domain of the estrogen receptor to the N- or C-terminus of EBNA2.
