This paper consists of an introductory review of a limited portion of the literature pertaining to interpersonal relationships. As it placed particular emphasis on therapist-patient relationships, and their development in physiotherapy clinical affiliations, particular attention has been paid to aspects such as interpersonal communication and perception, observational learning, feedback and reiforcement. It appears that attempts to teach interpersonal relationship skills, although providing some positive results, are still far from efficient, and in fact the development of such programmes is still in its infancy. However interest in this area is growing and future contributions to its development are anxiously awaited by many
