AbstractBackgroundWe aimed to report our experience with the use of multidetector row computed tomography (MDCT), with angiography in the evaluation of patients with hemoptysis.MethodsA prospective study was carried out on 52 patients suffering from hemoptysis, from May 2011 to August 2014. They underwent MDCT using a 16-detector row scanner with bronchial and pulmonary angiographic techniques.ResultsMDCT identified the cause of hemoptysis in 92% of patients. MDCT angiography was able to detect the site and vascular source of bleeding in 85% of patients. A total of 92 bronchial arteries were detected in 65% of patients; 29 of these arteries (31%) were abnormally dilated.ConclusionOur results confirm that MDCT angiography is a useful method ...
